When you think of having a firm foundation, what do you think of? Do you think of your faith? Your family? Your health? Your home?

Here at Family Strong, we think of them all! And each of them take patience, grace, and hard work.

selected

Faith: Putting your faith first, your relationship with God first. Accepting that you have a God who sent his perfect son to die on a cross for you, to forgive your sins. The ultimate gift of love. Sharing that same love of Jesus with others, and living a life obedient to His word. Glorifying Him in all that you do.

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Family: Faithfully stepping into your role in the family and seeking out God's purpose for you. Putting others before yourself and seeking to understand. Leading with forgiveness and grace, while also holding one another accountable with love. Taking care of the members in it as the gifts they are. Being a part of God's mission as a family, united.

But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. 1 Corinthians 11:3

Health: Taking responsibility and care for the body that God gave you. Giving it rest when it needs rest, giving it healthy food and exercise to function strong. Respecting the temple that the Holy Spirit dwells in and really considering what that means and how powerful that is.

19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Home: Take pride in your home. Do not compare it to someone else's. Teach your children to not covet your neighbor, but to be proud of the home they live in; pick up after themselves, and care for the space they live. Your home is a blessing and should be cared for as such.

17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” Exodus 20:17

Building your house on the rock is achievable with the God of the universe at your side. Take time today to pray on each of these. Ask God to show you where you can grow and be more like Jesus and continue to build your house on the rock!

25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. Matthew 7:25
